Desmond Wong graduated from the University of Hong Kong and is a retired professional accountant who has worked in public practice, industry, and government sectors. Since immigrating to Canada, he has actively supported many community organizations, including setting up a scholarship at the University of Toronto to help needy students as well as supporting the local food bank, hospitals and church. He joined the board of Chi Heng Foundation Canada in 2009 and has been Treasurer since. He is also the Treasurer of the Asian Heritage Month GTA, a community group dedicated to the promotion of Asian culture in the Greater Toronto Area.
